Doug in an earlier post mentions Patricia Costa Kim.I am a former HS student of hers and I am sad to announce that just yesterday, she passed away after losing a battle to Brain Cancer. She was one of my biggest inspirations and her memories will always live on. Rest in Peace Mrs. Kim. May your songs fill the heavens.You will be missed but never forgotten.

Though I feel really sad about his going, I find that in reading about him I go from weeping at his passing to laughing at his work to feeling so cared for by someone that I've never even met.

The comment about a spin-off lasting "more than twice as long as" its parent show certainly piqued that trivia drawer in the back of my brain. The field is pretty slim and I'd have to go trawling through IMDB to verify any of it, but I think SPACE:1999 (spun off of U.F.O.) and HAPPY DAYS (spun off of LOVE AMERICAN STYLE) might count. Also, I'm not sure if the short lived series MARSHALL DILLON aired before or concurrently with GUNSMOKE. There are numerous series that last longer than their parent shows (such as FRASIER), but twice as long is a hard criterion to satisfy.

What timing! Bless him. I saw him at a couple of the DS conventions and he would do lines from Shakespeare and tell funny stories. I bet he never thought that fabulous, creaky show would last this long in the mind of the public.

Coincedentally I just ordered "The King Family Easter Special" from one of the King Kids. You are spot on, there are covers of showtunes and pop songs and lots of hats. It's a fierce show filmed at a shopping Mall. I sent it to my friends in their Easter cards.

She also co-starred in the Elvis film "King Creole".

A lot of christians give Christ a bad name, but there are a lot of nuns and priests who fight for human rights and they are awesome.

I noticed with a new edition of The Apartment on DVD (both DVD editions, mind you.) The first edition was so much more in line with the movie - a simply image of the two main characters sitting in the apartment talking to each other. The new edition is some Klee attempt at adding Fred McMurray into the mix and simply isn't as successful (or meaningful).

I remember seeing "Batwoman and Robin" when I was stationed in the Philippines! The running gag in it was when the Catwoman's henchmen would announce her as "Ang Babae ng PUTA!" (The Bitchwoman), to which she would rapidly shriek "PUSA!" (cat). The Batmobile looked like a beat up Dodge Rambler with a spray painted bat on the side that wasn't even stenciled. Hysterically bad, I'd love to have it AND the sequel!

My main problem with the sequel is that it was "unauthorized"...Paramount made it without the original filmmakers.

I've seen AIRPLANE! about 100 times and it still makes me laugh - I recall seeing the sequel once in the theater and it just made me groan. I guess I should see it again...can't be any worse than PAN AM. :)

The first image past the comic book covers is hilarious; the illustration looks like it was yanked from MAD.

Nice line up Doug! I never caught "Episodes" and missed out on "Upstairs, Downstairs". Giggled my head off over the Christmas episode of Community! And YES loved me some "American Horror Story"!
