It sure is with this magical View-Master ad. (click on image to enlarge) I wonder if kids today would be excited to get a View-Master for Christmas? Probably not, and how very sad that is.
It is sad. I was so happy with the simple stuff that I got for Christmas. And granted when I started getting video games - Atari, then Nintendo - I liked them. But now when I see commercials for new video games, I just want my old Nintendo back so I can play Zelda. My favorite toys though were Matchbox cars and a big pile of dirt!
Take heart, Doug. My mom and I bought little Anthony some Viewmasters for Christmas this year. It has a fancy-ass new viewer, but the same old school photo reels. He's the kind of child who will love them, largely due to how he is being raised; it's okay to sit and just be quiet and read a book in my sister's house, not everything is crash boom bang noise noise noise all the time.
I had all of the Disney Viewmasters, of course, but I seem to remember some Brady Bunch ones, too.

I'd be thrilled to get one! (hmm... maybe I should send Steve to your blog.)

Ah...the good old ViewMaster. I occasionally pull mine out (the ViewMaster that is) to catch up with The Partridge Family, Flipper and The Munsters.
My grandma had one of those. As a kid, I never got tired of those. I had slides of mountains and flowers. Very pretty. :)
