A Toast to ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN

I conclude my four-day tribute to ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN with a special announcement. The awesome charitable organization known as Actors & Others for Animals is holding a gala tribute to LAUGH-IN next weekend on Saturday, Nov. 14th. CELEBRATION OF CARING is annual event that raises money for important programs such as spaying/neutering, pet overpopulation control and pet-assisted therapy.
The event will take place at Universal Hilton starting at 11:00am. There will be a silent auction and a no host cocktail hour-and-a-half, followed at 12:30 pm by a gourmet vegetarian luncheon. The entertainment program hosted by Bruce Vilanch starts at 1:30 pm. Several LAUGH-IN cast members and other notable TV stars will be in attendance (check back soon for a list of names).
Beloved LAUGH-IN star JoAnne Worley is the current president of the organization. Tickets to this gala start at $175.00 each, and are well worth it for the great cause. Here is a link to the website for more information. To purchase tickets or make a donation you can also call 818-755-5080.

Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls!

Continuing my tribute to ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN...The show featured a revolving-door cast of wildly talented comic performers, many of whom went on to successful careers in film, television and stage.Notable players who appeared on the show included Lily Tomlin, Richard Dawson, Teresa Graves, Goldie Hawn, Henry Gibson, Arte Johnson, Ruth Buzzi, Dave Madden, Judy Carne, JoAnne Worley, Barbara Sharma, Patti Deutsch,
Alan Sues, Willie Tyler & Lester and announcer Gary Owens. Flip Wilson was a frequent guest star.
The show is also responsible for bringing us such common expressions as "Verrry Eeen-ter-es-ting!", , "You bet your sweet bippy!", "Here come de' judge!", "Beautiful downtown Burbank", "One ringy-dingy...two ringy-dingies...", "Sock it to me!" and "Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls!". More to come tomorrow, including an exciting announcement for LAUGH-IN fans.
