More Random TV GUIDE Ads - BARE ESSENCE

This show had everything going for it. It was based on a popular blockbuster miniseries, it had an all-star cast (that included GENERAL HOSPITAL sensation Genie Francis, lovely film actress Jennifer O'Neill, YOUNG & THE RESTLESS diva JAMIE LYN BAUER and the always wonderful Jessica Walter) and a plum time slot on NBC's spring schedule following the Top 10 hit THE A TEAM and before the critically acclaimed ST. ELSEWHERE. Unfortunately after a few weeks NBC moved the show to Fridays, which was then ruled by CBS's line-up of DUKES OF HAZZARD, DALLAS and FALCON CREST. With FC on hiatus, NBC expected soap fans to switch over from Texas oil to the scandalous perfume industry. The show was gone in less than 12 weeks. On a side note, Genie Francis has just signed on to be a guest star in the third season of PRETTY, the web series which I am a producer of! I will be sure to ask her about BARE ESSENCE. :)

How to Beat Your June Gloom...

It's not that I don't have plenty of important things  to blog about...it's just this crazy "June Gloom" that makes me want look at colorful old advertising that I've had it my design  "swipe files" for years. For example:

Wow - these colors are already cheering me up!  I've always wanted my outfit to match my furniture and my artwork. Who knew it was such "Effortless Ease"?

Talk about colorful! These PSA flight attendants not only "pop" - but all their uniforms are unique, but compliment each other's. How hot is that? If flight crew still dressed liked this, I'd be flying a whole lot more often.

And finally, The Cologne of the Future. I clipped this ad from an old French fashion mag from the 1960s. Not only did the perfume have a "futuristic" name, but the packaging and the ad imagery looked like they could be from another time and place as well. I'd love to have that box sitting on my bathroom shelf.

A new, exciting cologne and stick deodorant two-pack in BIG BOTTLES. Start today–be grateful tomorrow because you'll have to beat men off with a stick once they catch a whiff of how lovely you now are. You may still look like hell, but you'll smell so freaking alluring that men will just fall over themselves once you come within sniffing-range.
